Ethics in Undergraduate Studies

The IEEE Code of Ethics has played a large role in our undergraduate studies. From lecture courses and labs to senior design projects, we can all relate to codes 7, 8, and 10.

In many cases, we all have had to work in groups composed of three to four students and have complied with Code 7 in some form, to seek, accept, and offer honest criticism of technical work, to acknowledge and correct errors, and to credit properly the contributions of others; This code applies to students as well as professors of the college.

Code 8 states,to treat fairly all persons regardless of such factors as race, religion, gender, disability, age, or national origin;” This code applies to all students because we must treat people equally, fairly and reasonably regardless of our differences. Everyone has the same human rights entitlements; men and women, rich and poor, black and white.

And finally Code 10to assist colleagues and co-workers in their professional development and to support them in following this code of ethics;” has been demonstrated among students by way of helping others in their learning and developmental processes.
